About

Roberto Ridi

I was born on the 7th of July, 1959 in Portoferraio, Island of Elba.

I began to cultivate my love for photography at a young age, I grew professionally from the magic of black and white to the enthusiasm of color. The change from using film to the speed of digital has substituted the dark room with the extraordinary creativity of the screen.

Professional photographer since 1980, explorer of various  techniques and methods of photography, I consider myself as a story teller in pictures of my Elba and many other places recounted in photographic books, personal exhibitions. I published in numerous magazines, books and other publications national and international.

After my forth book, “Pianosa, colours of silence” I have specialized my research in naturalistic reportage that have led me to create amongst others, a photographic archives for National Park of the Tuscan Archipelago, Balzano Publisher and I Hope about Sardinia and the photographic archive about Island of Elba for the promotional tourist office.

My work covers various genre from reportage to aerial and underwater photography, from portraits to  landscapes with a profound view of man and nature.

Photography is the alchemy that generates emotions when time, light and space come together.
